Charmaine is the founder of A for Effort, a company she started in 2016 when she realized the demand for high quality tutoring specifically for students attending international school was in high demand. An alumni of the Jakarta Intercultural School herself, Charmaine could relate to the needs of students at international schools through her own personal experience. Whilst the quality of education at international schools is high, so are the expectations. A for Effort was established to help students attain these expectations. Charmaine is involved in all operational activities of A for Effort. This includes ongoing training of the tutors, maintaining close contact with all customers, following the progress of all students, and keeping an open line of communications with school teachers, counsellors and learning support staff to ensure lessons are always aligned. For Charmaine continuous improvement is key, and she and her team are always striving to continuously improve their services. In her spare time Charmaine is enthusiastic about fitness, dance and yoga!
Diandra is an enthusiastic and hard-working team member, she is the core of the company who helps the entire A for Effort team and customers with all day-to-day activities. Diandra has worked for many of the top 5-star hotel chains around the world, including in Bali and the United States. Her professional experience within her role as administrative assistant, and dedication to help the students, clients and A for Effort team members, has made Diandra a vital part of the team. In her spare time Diandra keeps busy by learning new foreign languages such as Korean and Mandarin, and plays the piano. Diandra is the main point of contact for all clients on a day-to-day basis.
Arief is one of A for Effort’s first tutors and has extensive experience teaching both Math and Science. Arief graduated from High School in the USA earning a GPA of 4.00/4.00, and even won the regional USA Math Olympiad in 2012. During his university career Arief was an exchange student in Singapore, and continued to graduate from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) with a bachelor degree in Engineering. Arief loves to travel, having visited many countries and hopes to continue to visit more in the near future. At A for Effort Arief teaches both Math and Science to Middle and High School students, including IB and AP.
Shintya’s creativity has allowed her to become a very popular tutor at A for Effort. Incorporating unique learning methods in all of her sessions, Shintya is sure to keep the engagement factor high! A graduate from the University of Queensland in Australia, Shintya obtained her Masters degree in Molecular Biology. Shintya is also an honorary lecturer at Petra Christian University teaching Philosophy. She also co-founded Gate-Talk, a community of educators that aims to prompt philosophy based pedagogy. She is a coffee enthusiast, in her spare time you can find her trying out filter coffee variants or practicing her latte art skills! At A for Effort Shintya teaches both Math and Science to students of all ages, including IB and AP.
Haryo is a very experienced Math tutor, having worked at A for Effort for many years. Haryo ensures to make a difference and we have had many success stories of the positive transformations students have had in their Math tutoring journey with Haryo. Haryo is a graduate of Sampoerna University majoring in Mathematics Education. Having dreamed of becoming an educator since he was a kid, Haryo is passionate about teaching and seeing the changes that his lessons can bring. In Haryo’s free time he enjoys cooking up new recipes! At A for Effort Haryo is our designated Math teacher for all levels, including IB and AP.
Adelia is our Math & Science tutor and is great with younger students. Her extensive background in Science allows Adelia to present the material in fun and creative ways. Her lessons are enjoyable yet informative, allowing students to progress through interactive lessons. Adelia graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Masters degree in Chemistry. Her experience abroad has allowed her to get a good understanding of international curriculums. During her free time Adelia enjoys journaling and yoga! Adelia is our designated Math & Science tutor for Elementary and Middle School students.
